GearWrench 81204P 120XP Cushion Grip Flex Teardrop Ratchet Set, 2-Piece.
I have been using these two ratchets daily since December of 2014 and i can tell you that they are plenty durable, very versatile and quite possibly the best ratchets money can buy and this includes ratchets from the super expensive tool trucks (you know those guys with the red logo).
The fact that this ratchet has 120 teeth, a very small 3 degree swing, and a locking flex head
makes it the ratchet that i keep on my tool cart every single day. The Head on this ratchet may not be the most slim design (i think craftsman 84 tooth ratchet has it beat on slim head design) but it’s head size is by no means a handicap. I cant tell you how many times i have to go searching the shop looking for my ratchet because another technician borrowed it to get them out of a tight situation.
The 3/8″ ratchet is VERY tough. I have used this ratchet in ways i should not, such as breaking suspension bolts loose by adding a pipe over the handle for even more leverage (the handle is plenty long as is). It holds up just fine, i have not had to warranty it to date. Speaking of warranty, you can get this ratchet warrantied via Advanced Auto Parts since they carry GearWrench tools and Advanced Auto parts is very easy to work with, they will order it for you if they dont have it in stock. you could even get your tool truck guy to warranty these ratchets. Hopefully i wont ever need them warrantied.
The 1/4″ flex head ratchet is usually the ratchet i grab when i am doing jobs like timing belts, water pumps, intakes, etc, etc. Its a Very strong ratchet with a great amount of leverage for its size. In fact i have done jobs that i should have used a 3/8″ ratchet on exclusively with this 1/4″ ratchet.
I own at least 6 different types and brands of ratchets. The GearWrench 120xp flex head ratchet is my favorite especially the 1/4″ drive ratchet. This set is perfect for the DIY home mechanic or the professional auto technician looking to save time and aggravation.
