So I was in Harbor Freight the other day looking for swivel casters to replace the 2 fixed casters that are on my tool cart (i like 4 swivels better than 2). So I decided to take a look at the 3/8″ swivel socket set again as I had purchased them in the past and they came apart in a week. Yes i know i could have warrantied the other set but i was missing a few already. But anyway, I noticed that the swivel pin retaining ring/spring was beefier on the 3/8″ swivel set now.

The swivel on the left has a beefier retaining spring, filling the entire groove. The one on right is flimsy

Those that don’t know,  HF tends to improve there tools over the years making tweaks usually for the better (Sometimes it takes them waaay to long to tweak products) and occasionally for the worst. So at only $25 dollars I purchased them to give them another try. I will not loose any this time so I can exchange what breaks.

This week I will be abusing using these swivel sockets without mercy and i will report back to anyone that cares if they are worth it or not. So look for a full review on theses cheapo swivels in the near future.

The socket part itself fits fasteners very well.
